Since 1980, Nancy Summer has been a writer, editor, and
activist in the size acceptance movement. She is a past
president of NAAFA, and edited their newsletter for 9 years.
She has appeared on many news and talk shows including
Nightwatch, Phil Donahue, and Sally Jessy Raphael, and
appeared in the full-length documentary
The Famine
Within. Summer started the Council's "Kids Come In All
Sizes" program, and designed and ran its first body-image
workshops for teenage girls. She is the co-founder of
Amplestuff (
www.amplestuff.com),
a mail-order catalog of specialty items for large people.
Her special area of interest for the Council is fund
raising.
